World No Tobacco Day

World No Tobacco Day is focused on raising awareness of the health impacts linked to smoking. There are very different opinions about the question of smoking and its impacts on health, such as cancer.

I am firmly of the opinion that smoking commercially produced cigarettes is not good for your health. The cancer argument aside, there are known impacts other than this.

It’s worth doing your research, and considering what you gain from not smoking compared to what you lose from smoking.

This is by no means a ‘bash the smoker’ session. For many people who try to quit smoking, it is a long and tough journey. For those who choose not to quit, that’s their choice, like everything else in life.

This article is focused on understanding some of the impacts that can be encountered as a result of consuming commercially produced tobacco.

Tobacco has grown wild for over 8,000 years. People started smoking or chewing tobacco during religious ceremonies and cultural events more than 2,000 years ago. Since the popularization of smoking things have changed.

Over the years we’ve realised that tobacco is a harmful substance. This is why we support World No Tobacco Day on 31st May.

Tobacco consumption was commonplace in the 50’s right through to the early 21st century. There were lots of movies that promoted smoking.

People smoked in offices, restaurants and even on aeroplanes. I understand that this is still common in some parts of Europe but I’m glad that we don’t allow that in Australia anymore.

I remember in my late teens and early twenties, smoking was more of a social thing. However, smoking publicly has diminished with the introduction of illegal consumption in designated areas.

By now, most of us know that there are several health problems that arise from smoking tobacco and second-hand smoking. Additionally, we are more aware of the global effect of chewing tobacco and tobacco smoking on the environment.

The cultivation of tobacco causes deforestation and the waste from production includes harmful chemicals and toxins which are affecting the ecosystems and ecology of our world.

Additionally, cigarette butts and packaging is contributing to the pollution of our delicate planet. The purpose of World No Tobacco Day is to raise awareness of the impact that Tobacco has on our lives and the effects on our environment.

Detox from Tobacco Consumption

Tobacco consumption is the leading cause of health problems today. Health problems such as asthma, lung disease, which include emphysema, bronchitis and lung cancer are preventable. Unfortunately, the consumption of tobacco products such as cigarettes, or chewing tobacco is an addiction.

When choosing the stop consuming tobacco products you may experience detoxification effects. You may experience cravings, headaches, low energy, sweating, insomnia, restlessness, nausea, irritability and other physical withdrawal symptoms.
